Mark Word documents as drafts

You have a Word document under review. You want its PDF to say DRAFT across every page, without editing the document.

Request

curl \
--request POST http://localhost:3000/forms/libreoffice/convert \
--form files=@report.docx \
--form 'stages=[
{ "op": "stamp-text", "text": "DRAFT", "x": 200, "y": 290, "fontSize": 96, "color": "#b42318", "opacity": 0.2, "rotation": 45 }
]' \
-o report.pdf

Result

A Letter PDF with a faint red DRAFT across the middle of each page, over the content.

How it works

  • LibreOffice converts the document, then stamp-text draws on every page: see Stamp text.
  • x and y count in points from the bottom-left corner, and rotation turns the text around that point. On a Letter page, 612 by 792 points, these values center it.
  • opacity keeps the content readable under it.

Variations

  • Some pages only: add pages, such as "1".
  • A logo instead of text: stamp-image.
  • LibreOffice's own watermark: nativeWatermarkText sizes the text to the page.
  • PDFs you already have: send them to /forms/pdf/stamp-text with the same options.
